What it is
STANAG 4026 is the NATO Standardization Agreement on explosives, specification for nitroguanidine (picrite). Edition 3 was promulgated in April 2009 under CNAD, AC/326 CASG, SG/A, EMT. NATO has not released STANAG 4026 publicly, so this page describes it from the Czech defence standards index entry for the standard that implements it.
What the Czech implementation covers
ČOS 137607, the Czech defence standard on raw materials for the production of military explosives, implements STANAG 4026 together with STANAG 4566 (AOP-4566(A)) and STANAG 4583. Its index entry describes the standard as setting qualitative requirements for nitroguanidine, the explosive CL-20 (hexanitrohexaazaisowurtzitane) and n-butyl-2-nitratoethylnitramine intended for the production of military explosives, and as giving uniform test methods for evaluating the quality of these raw materials. The index entry does not say which of those requirements or test methods come from STANAG 4026.
Where it is cited
The public NATO publications AOP-4682 and STANAG 4682 list STANAG 4026 among the explosives specifications they cite, next to the specifications for RDX, PETN, ammonium nitrate, TNT, HNS and HMX and the test procedures for nitrocellulose. AOP-4682 gives its title as "Explosives - Specification for Picrite (Nitroguanidine, NQ)".
