STANAG 4147 chemical compatibility of munition components

NATO has not released this STANAG publicly. It is NATO UNCLASSIFIED, and organisations that need it obtain it through their national standardization authority.
What it is
STANAG 4147 is the NATO Standardization Agreement on energetic materials, chemical compatibility with munition components, published as AOP-4147 edition A. Edition 3 was promulgated in June 2023 under CNAD, AC/326 CASG, SG/A, EMT. NATO marks STANAG 4147 NATO UNCLASSIFIED and has not released it publicly, so this page describes it from public NATO publications that cite it.
Where it is cited
AOP-07, a publicly disclosed NATO publication, lists STANAG 4147 among its qualification test STANAGs, describing it as covering "Explosives, Chemical Compatibility of Ammunition Components with Explosives and Propellants (Non-Nuclear Applications)". In near-identical clauses for explosives, propellants and pyrotechnic compositions, AOP-07 requires that data acquired in accordance with STANAG 4147 be provided to determine the compatibility of the material with the materials used in its manufacture or in its intended application. Its mandatory-data list for primary explosives names a "Compatibility - Vacuum Stability-Reactivity" test under STANAG 4147, and a data list for solid rocket propellants names compatibility with materials under STANAG 4147 as well.
Three further NATO publications, AAS3P-20, AAS3P-21 and AAS3P-22, use near-identical wording in passages on compositions containing metal fuel. They say chemical and explosive compatibility, per STANAG 4147, should have been assessed "between all components with the energetic materials they will be in contact with (both in physical contact and by gas/vapour path)" during material qualification or the design of the munition, and that the compatibility data shall be "presented as a matrix that lists the materials, and for each explosive declares whether there is contact or not", with evidence to support the claim.
