What it is
STANAG 4299 is the NATO Standardization Agreement titled Specification ammonium perchlorate (NH4Cl04) for deliveries from one NATO nation to another. Edition 1 was promulgated on 23 May 1996; the sponsoring committee is CNAD, AC/326 CASG, SG/A, EMT. NATO has not released STANAG 4299 publicly, so this page describes it from the Czech defence standards index entry for ČOS 137606, the Czech standard that implements it, and from public NATO publications that cite it.
What the Czech implementation covers
The Czech defence standard ČOS 137606, on raw materials for the production of military explosives, implements STANAG 4299 Edition 1 together with STANAG 4024 Edition 3 and STANAG 4300 Edition 2 (AOP-4300(A)). Its index entry describes the standard as setting out qualitative requirements for three raw materials used in military explosives, ammonium perchlorate, aluminium powder and ammonium nitrate, and as giving uniform test methods for evaluating the quality of those raw materials. Ammonium perchlorate is the one of the three that STANAG 4299 specifies; the index entry does not break the requirements or test methods out by raw material, so this is what the Czech implementation covers as a set, not a detailed specification for ammonium perchlorate alone.
Where it is cited
AOP-4682 and STANAG 4682 cite STANAG 4299 Ed. 1 in a list of NATO agreements that also names the specifications and test procedures for other energetic materials delivered from one NATO nation to another, among them HNS, HMX, NTO, nitrocellulose and aluminium powder.
