STANAG 2129 identification of land forces on the battlefield

STANAG 2129 is the NATO agreement on identifying friendly land forces on the battlefield. NATO has not released it publicly; this page describes it from the Czech defence standard that implements it.

NATO has not released this STANAG publicly. It is NATO UNCLASSIFIED, and organisations that need it obtain it through their national standardization authority.
What it is
STANAG 2129 is the NATO Standardization Agreement on the identification of land forces on the battlefield and in an area of operations. Edition 9, promulgated in March 2015 under the Military Committee's land standardization board, covers the publication ATP-91 (A). Its subject is combat identification of land forces.
NATO has not released STANAG 2129 or ATP-91 publicly. This page describes them from a public national implementation, the Czech defence standard ČOS 108015, which implements STANAG 2129 edition 9 and ATP-91 (A). A national implementation can add national requirements and reservations, so treat what follows as the Czech implementation's content, not as NATO's own text.
What the Czech implementation covers
ČOS 108015 groups combat identification means into three kinds: visual means, infrared means, and interrogator and responder systems. It then describes the individual devices: the combat identification panel mounted on vehicles, the thermal identification panel that shows up to thermal sights, the thermal identification beacon, near-infrared emitters, and near-infrared reflective paints, tapes and materials. It also sets out a vehicle marking system and compares how effective the different identification methods and devices are.
For a supplier, the practical content is the specification of each device: its size, how it is mounted, and what it must be visible to. The Czech text gives, for example, the dimensions of the combat identification panel and of the thermal identification panel.
