STANAG 2521 CBRN defence on operations

NATO has not released this STANAG publicly. It is NATO UNCLASSIFIED, and organisations that need it obtain it through their national standardization authority.
What it is
STANAG 2521 covers ATP-3.8.1 Volume I, CBRN Defence on Operations. Edition 2 was promulgated on 15 March 2022; its sponsoring committee is MC, MCJSB, JCBRND CDG.

Where it is cited
Most public NATO publications that mention STANAG 2521 do so only in a reference list, repeating its title. AMedP-7.6, the Commander's Guide on Medical Support to CBRN Defensive Operations, goes further in two places.
On physical protection, AMedP-7.6 states that "doctrine on the need for, use of, and training for IPE and COLPRO is provided in STANAG 2521 (ATP-3.8.1 Volume 1)", naming STANAG 2522 (Volume 2) and STANAG 2520 (Volume 3) alongside it. ATrainP-1 expands IPE as CBRN individual protective equipment and COLPRO as collective protection.
On laboratory identification, AMedP-7.6 attributes to STANAG 2521 the rule that "any process of identifying CBRN agents through sample analysis will be associated with one of three confidence levels: provisional identification, confirmed identification, and unambiguous identification." It adds that "Field analyses conducted by specialized sampling and investigation teams will provide provisional identification".
