What it is
STANAG 4500 is the NATO Standardization Agreement on procedures to determine field artillery muzzle velocity management, interchangeability and prediction. Edition 2, promulgated in May 2014 under NATO's CNAD, AC/225 NAAG, ICGIF, covers the publication AEP-70 edition A. NATO marks it NATO UNCLASSIFIED and has not released STANAG 4500 publicly, so this page describes it from the entry for its Czech implementation, ČOS 130011, in the Czech defence standards index.
What the Czech implementation covers
The Czech defence standard ČOS 130011 implements STANAG 4500 edition 2 (AEP-70(A)). Its Czech title refers to the muzzle (initial) velocity of projectiles in ground artillery. Its entry in the Czech defence standards index states that the Czech standard sets out procedures for calculating, recording and passing on data about the muzzle velocities of projectiles between NATO forces and systems for fire control. According to the same entry, it does not apply to direct-fire weapon systems or to ground-based anti-aircraft weapon systems.
