What it is
STANAG 4568 is the NATO agreement on procedures to determine the levels of performance, muzzle velocity and pressure, and the associated quality of in-service large calibre propelling charge lots. Edition 1 was promulgated in December 2000, sponsored by CNAD, AC/225 NAAG, ICGIF. NATO has not released STANAG 4568 publicly, so this page describes it from the Czech defence standards index entry for the national standard that implements it.
What the Czech implementation covers
The Czech defence standards index (oos-data.army.cz) lists ČOS 130012 as the standard implementing STANAG 4568 edition 1. Its Czech title translates as procedures for the ballistic testing of propelling charges for artillery and mortar rounds, and the determination of witness rounds. The index describes ČOS 130012 as covering procedures for determining the levels of ballistic performance, muzzle velocity and pressure, and the associated properties of lots of in-service large calibre propelling charges, together with the international test procedures ITOP 4-2-700, on propelling charges, and ITOP 4-2-606, on establishing primary and comparison witness rounds. The index entry gives no further detail beyond that one paragraph, so this page goes no further either.
