What it is
STANAG 4632, Deployable NBC Analytical Laboratory, is edition 1, promulgated on 12 August 2005 under NATO's CNAD, AC/225 NAAG, JCBRND CDG. NATO has not released STANAG 4632 publicly, so this page describes it from public NATO medical and CBRN publications that cite it.
Where it is cited
AJMedP-7, NATO's Allied Joint Medical Doctrine for Support to CBRN Defensive Operations, cites STANAG 4632 under non-medical laboratory support and states that it "establishes capability standards for the NATO Deployable NBC Analytical Laboratory (NBC-AL) and provides guidance on its essential functions, capabilities, and equipment." The same passage adds that the NBC-AL is meant to provide environmental sampling and identification of a CBRN substance within a JOA.
AMedP-7.6, NATO's Commander's Guide on Medical Support to CBRN Defensive Operations, also cites the standard, identifying it as STANAG 4632 (AEP-81) and stating that "These laboratory facilities will deploy on five days’ notice to move and provide expert sampling and analysis capabilities and scientific advice on CBRN threats and hazards across the CJOA." It goes on to associate the NBC-AL with NATO's CBRN Defence Battalion.
