NATO has not released this STANAG publicly. It is NATO UNCLASSIFIED, and organisations that need it obtain it through their national standardization authority.
What it is
STANAG 7085 is the NATO Standardization Agreement on interoperable data links for ISR systems, covering the publication AEDP-7085. Edition 4 was promulgated in April 2018 under CNAD, AC/224 NAFAG, JCGISR. NATO has not released STANAG 7085 publicly, so this page describes it from public NATO publications that cite it: AEDP-02, AEDP-06 and AEP-84.
Where it is cited
AEDP-02 describes STANAG 7085 as removing "the limits to interoperability that arise through the use of dedicated, proprietary data links to support ISR sensor systems" by describing a limited number of interoperable data link profiles, each one a unique combination of waveform parameters aside from a small set of variable mission parameters. It says the current profiles are based on either the U.S. Standard Common Data Link (STD-CDL) or the ETSI DVB-DSNG Based Data Link (DSDL) systems, and states that "STANAG 7085 profiles provide data rates from 200 Kb/s and 274.176 Mb/s to support a wide range of ISR missions" and that "All current profiles are capable of conveying Internet Protocol (IP) packetized payloads." According to AEDP-02, AEDP-10 contains "implementation guidance for STANAG 7085 as well as security classification guidance, and test and certification guidance."
AEDP-06 recounts that NATO's ISR architecture defined the interface between the ISR acquisition and ground elements as one requiring standardisation, and describes it this way: "The interface consists of the imagery format (STANAG 7023 or STANAG 4545) and either a wideband data link (STANAG 7085) and/or wideband digital tape recorder (STANAG 7024)." AEP-84 counts STANAG 7085 among the existing or emerging STANAGs applicable to UASs, which provide standards for "interoperable data link (STANAG 7085)", and its reference list gives the title as Interoperable Data Links for Imaging Systems.
