STANAG 3237 is the NATO agreement titled Aperture of terminal ring or LINK of aircraft slings. Edition 4, promulgated 27 May 2024 under NATO's MC, MCASB, ASSE, covers the publication AASSEP-09 edition A. NATO has not released STANAG 3237 publicly, so this page describes it from the Czech defence standards index entry for the implementing standard, ČOS 164004.
What the Czech implementation covers
The Czech defence standards index entry for ČOS 164004, on the dimensions of the suspension eye of the carrying loop used for lifting aircraft, describes the standard as defining the direct connection of lifting slings to crane hooks for lifting aircraft, where aircraft means aeroplanes and helicopters. It also records a national reservation: the Czech Republic reserves the right to use the eyes for lifting complete aircraft that the aircraft manufacturer prescribes. That reservation is a Czech addition, not part of the interoperability content. The index entry names ČOS 164004 as implementing STANAG 3237 edition 3, an earlier edition than the edition 4 named in the current record.
