STANAG 7073
Makers of aircraft ground power units and connectors, and the maintenance and engineering staff who specify and install them.
STANAG 7073 is the NATO agreement that standardises the connectors used to supply aircraft with electrical power on the ground. NATO has not released it publicly; this page describes it from the Czech defence standard that implements it.
NATO has not released this STANAG publicly. It is NATO UNCLASSIFIED, and organisations that need it obtain it through their national standardization authority.
STANAG 7073 is the NATO Standardization Agreement on connectors for aircraft electrical servicing power. Edition 3, promulgated on 20 March 2024 under NATO's MC, MCASB, AE, covers the publication AAEP-04, edition B, which carries the same title.
NATO has not released STANAG 7073 publicly. This page describes it from a public national implementation, the Czech defence standard ČOS 593503 (1st edition, effective from 24 November 2025), which states that it introduces STANAG 7073 edition 3, adopting the identically named standard AAEP-04(B). A national implementation can add national requirements and reservations, so treat what follows as the Czech implementation's content, not as NATO's own text.
ČOS 593503 sets out to standardise the design and wiring of aircraft connectors used for ground power supply to aircraft, in both direct current and alternating current. It requires the connector's design to comply with two other Czech standards, ČSN ISO 461-1 (design, performance and test requirements for aircraft ground power connectors) and ČSN ISO 461-2 (their dimensions), and its wiring to match the diagrams and pin tables the ČOS sets out.
For a 28 V direct-current ground supply, the standard assigns pin 1 to the negative pole of the ground power source, wired to the aircraft's earth connection; pin 2 to the positive pole, wired to the aircraft's electrical bus; and pin 3, connected to pin 2, to power a control relay.
For a three-phase 115/200 V, 400 Hz alternating-current ground supply, pins A, B and C carry phases A, B and C to the aircraft bus through a relay; pin N carries the neutral conductor; pin E powers the relay coil; and pin F carries the 28 V signal that controls the relay from the aircraft's own direct-current network. A ground power monitor checks phase sequence and under- or over-voltage and under- or over-frequency before the connection is made.
ČOS 593503 does not replace any earlier Czech standard.
A supplier bound by STANAG 7073 through a contract holds the obtained text through its national authority. In ComplyTrain you record the requirements that apply to you as your own requirements, give each an owner, and keep the evidence that shows you meet them against each one.
Tell us how you need to work with STANAG 7073 and what you need from it. We will come back to you about what ComplyTrain can do.
Thank you. Your list is on its way to your inbox, and we will come back to you on what working with these standards in ComplyTrain involves, usually within one business day.

The EDF consortium rule is usually quoted as three entities from three Member States. It has a second limb about control that the word independent quietly hides, and two exceptions that disapply it entirely.
